Hilton delivered a new catenary maintenance vehicle to our customer Sersa in Switzerland. The vehicle has been built on a Mercedes Benz Arocs 8x4 chassis with hydraulic steered front guidance axle. The rail drive unit is a hydrostatic system with 2 bogies and 4 driven axles including a magnetic brake system for operation in slopes up to 80 ‰ in the Swiss mountains. The rail axles allow to adjust the gauge between 1000mm and 1435mm. The superstructure consists of a PKR175 crane with basket module. This allows Sersa to operate this vehicle as crane or platform vehicle on almost the entire rail network in Switzerland. Thanks to the high gross vehicle weight of the 4-axle chassis and the optimized axle load distribution, the crane has an excellent working range even on 1000mm gauge. With the wagon brake system the vehicle can also be used as locomotive in combination with coupled wagons. To guarantee safety and fast service, the vehicle has an integrated online remote diagnostic system, which allows 24h 7/7 live on-line monitoring of the vehicle and immediate remote service assistance when needed. We wish our customer Sersa all the best and good luck with their new vehicle.
