Hilton Kommunal has delivered a rail cleaning vehicle with integrated track bed cleaning system to the tram of Alexandria. It is the first rail cleaning vehicle in Egypt and has been successfully taken into operation in July. The vehicle has been built on a Mercedes Benz Axor 1828 4x2 chassis. The rail drive unit is a trolley with friction drive system. A Deutz auxiliary engine is used to drive the fan, the water and hydraulic pumps. The cleaning unit consists of two suction shoes between the rails and 1 suction shoe on each side next to the track. The groove cleaning suction shoes are equipped with integrated 50 bar nozzles for contactless high pressure groove cleaning. Due to the combination of a rail and track bed cleaning system, the vehicle is a multi-functional cleaning vehicle with a wide range of use.
